TedToob had the pleasure of attending San Jose Jazz Summer Fest on Sunday, August 14.
The main reason for attending was to see my son - Stuart Silverman, perform with a funky, soul-jazz collective led by a talented singer, rapper, trombonist, pianist and composer called Oddity.
But first: being a guitar fan I was please to have the opportunity to see an intimate duo performance featuring two of America’s most accomplished jazz guitarists -
New York City’s Peter Bernstein, and San Francisco’s own Bruce Forman!
This was a superb clinic in jazz guitar improvisation covering a small segment of the vast American songbook…..

Oddity impressed me with their strong ensemble performance featuring terrific, passionate singing, rapping, and instrumental prowess on trombone and piano from Oddity as well as truly professional solo excursions from all the members of this ensemble. I am sure that this crew will continue to impress with new compositions and arrangements and in all likelihood, a return to San Jose Jazz’ Summer Fest!
